Maths for ML / Notation

⟨a,b⟩\langle \mathbf{a}, \mathbf{b} \rangle

inner product

Brackets and normsIntermediate

Say it “inner product of a and b”

A general 'multiply and sum' between two vectors; for ordinary vectors it's the dot product.

Example

⟨a,b⟩=a⊤b\langle \mathbf{a},\mathbf{b}\rangle = \mathbf{a}^\top\mathbf{b}

In code

np.dot(a, b)
torch.dot(a, b)
