Say it “is a subset of”

Every element of the left set is also in the right set (they may be equal).

Example

\{2,4\} \subseteq \{1,2,3,4\}

Where you’ll see it in ML

A mini-batch is a subset of the training set.

Don’t confuse it with

$\in$ element of The thing on the left is a member of the set on the right.
$\subset$ proper subset (usually) Usually means a subset that is not the whole set. Some authors use ⊂ to mean ⊆ — check the paper's convention.
